Job Overview
Location: Hamilton, Ontario
Structure: Detached bungalow with a large rear garage
Problem: Mouse activity inside the garage
Service: Mouse treatment and monitoring
Visits: 6
Summary
We responded to reports of ongoing mouse activity inside a detached garage. Over multiple visits, our team completed interior treatment, exterior bait station placement, sanitation, and long-term monitoring. Activity was eventually resolved, and no further rodent presence was reported in the garage by the final visit.
Background / Property Context
The property consists of a detached bungalow with a standalone garage located at the rear. The garage is used for storage and contains shelving, furniture, and miscellaneous items, creating harbourage opportunities for rodents if access is available.
Customer Concern
The homeowner reported live mice observed inside the garage along with a significant amount of rodent droppings. They were concerned about contamination of stored items and ongoing activity despite initial treatment.
Inspection & Findings
During the initial inspection, our team observed evidence consistent with mouse activity inside the garage, including droppings and disturbed items. Exterior inspection of the garage identified conditions along the lower siding and foundation line that could allow rodent access if left unsealed. Interior photos show stored items and clutter that may have provided nesting and travel routes.

Cause Analysis
Detached garages are commonly affected by mice due to ground-level construction and frequent small gaps along siding or foundation interfaces. The presence of stored materials can provide shelter and food sources. Without full exclusion, mice can continue to re-enter even after treatment, prolonging activity.
Treatment / Removal
All pest control work was carried out by a licensed exterminator in accordance with Ontario Ministry of the Environment guidelines.
On the initial visit, rodent control measures were installed inside the garage, and activity was addressed with professional-grade products. Exterior bait stations were later added to increase perimeter control. Over subsequent visits, stations were serviced and rebaited as required to maintain effectiveness.
Exclusion & Repairs
Exclusion options for identified entry points were quoted during the initial visit; however, the homeowner chose not to proceed with sealing work at that time. No physical exclusion or structural repairs were completed as part of this service.
Outcome & Confirmation
Over time and continued monitoring, rodent activity declined. By the sixth visit, the homeowner reported no further mouse activity in the garage. Final checks confirmed that bait stations were inactive and no new droppings or signs of mice were observed.
Technician Notes
Shaohua completed the initial inspection, treatment, and follow-up servicing. Interior sanitation included removal of debris, HEPA-filtered vacuuming of rodent droppings, and disinfection using hospital-grade botanical sterilizers applied by spray and industrial fogging equipment. Long-term monitoring and maintenance were provided over several years until activity was fully resolved.
