Job Overview
Location: Hamilton, Ontario
Structure: Detached bungalow with rear garage
Problem: Exterior rat activity
Service: Exterior rat control treatment
Visits: 3
Summary
We were contacted regarding ongoing exterior rat activity around a detached bungalow with a large rear garage. Our team completed a multi-visit exterior treatment program focused on reducing the active rat population on the property. Activity was monitored and addressed over three visits, with confirmation at the final visit that no further exterior activity was observed.
Background / Property Context
The property is a detached bungalow with a separate garage structure at the rear. Exterior ground-level areas and perimeter zones provided potential harborage for rodents, particularly along hardscaped and landscaped sections of the yard.
Customer Concern
The homeowner reported seeing rats outdoors on the property and requested professional assistance to address the exterior activity.
Inspection & Findings
During the initial visit, a full exterior inspection was completed. Signs consistent with rat activity were observed in exterior areas of the property. The perimeter was assessed for potential entry points and conditions that could support ongoing rodent presence.
Photos from the site show tamper-resistant exterior bait stations installed at ground level. The stations contained secured block bait and were weighted to prevent movement. Debris and organic material were visible around the placement areas, consistent with an outdoor environment.
Cause Analysis
Exterior rat activity was likely supported by accessible ground-level conditions and nearby shelter opportunities around the structure and garage. Such environments can provide cover and travel routes for rodents, allowing populations to persist outdoors even when interior access is limited.
Treatment / Removal
An exterior rat control program was implemented by a licensed exterminator in accordance with Ontario Ministry of the Environment guidelines. Two large, weighted, tamper-resistant bait stations were installed on the exterior of the property to target the outdoor rat population. The stations were serviced and monitored over subsequent visits, with rebating completed as needed based on activity levels.

Exclusion & Repairs
Potential exterior entry points were identified during the inspection, and an exclusion option was quoted to the homeowner. The customer chose not to proceed with exclusion work at that time. No sealing or structural repairs were completed as part of this job.
Outcome & Confirmation
At the third visit, the homeowner reported no further exterior rat activity. Inspection findings were consistent with a resolved exterior issue, and no additional servicing was required at that time.
Technician Notes
The work was completed by technician Shaohua over three scheduled visits. The focus remained on exterior population control and monitoring. No limitations were encountered during any of the visits.
