Job Overview
Location: Hamilton, Ontario
Structure: Detached two story house
Problem: Early-morning attic noise consistent with squirrel activity
Service: Squirrel removal
Visits: 2
Summary
We addressed reported attic activity at a detached home in Hamilton. Inspection identified a soffit-level opening being used by squirrels. A one-way door was installed to allow humane exit, followed by a return visit to confirm no further activity and complete exclusion.
Background / Property Context
The property is a two-story detached house with soffit and roofline transitions that can present access points if gaps develop. The work took place in May.
Customer Concern
The homeowner reported repeated early-morning sounds coming from the attic, raising concerns about wildlife presence and potential damage.
Inspection & Findings
During the initial roofline inspection, our technician identified an opening just below the soffit along the exterior wall. Nesting material was visible within the cavity, indicating active use consistent with squirrels.

Cause Analysis
Squirrels commonly exploit small gaps at soffits and roofline intersections to access attic spaces. Seasonal activity in spring increases movement and nesting behavior, making these areas more vulnerable when openings are present.
Treatment / Removal
A one-way door was installed directly over the identified entry point below the soffit. This allowed squirrels to exit the attic safely without re-entry, ensuring a humane, non-lethal removal process.
Exclusion & Repairs
After the exit period, the one-way door was removed. The exclusion area was inspected to confirm the opening was properly addressed and no additional access points were present at the treated location.

Outcome & Confirmation
On the follow-up visit, the homeowner reported no further attic activity. Inspection confirmed successful removal and secure exclusion, with no signs of continued wildlife presence.

Technician Notes
The work was completed over two visits by our technician, Ardian. Initial inspection confirmed the soffit-level entry point and active use. Follow-up inspection verified the effectiveness of the one-way door and the integrity of the exclusion after removal.
